A custom desktop application for controlling molecular biology robotic testing devices.
The Problem
AI Biosciences, Inc develops a number of machines for molecular biology automation. Since they are primarily based on 3D printer control boards, they had been using 3D printer software such as Repetier-Host to control the machines. Since the software was not optimized for their application, it was cumbersome to use and prone to human error. Technicians had to directly write g-code programs using machine coordinates to drive the machines.
The Solution
We developed a desktop control application based on Eclipse RCP. This allowed for the rapid development of the application interface, allowing us to focus on integration with the hardware.
